Indian job market bound to rise with growth in IT

The Indian job market is bound to grow with the growth of information technology, says Ben Noteboom, Chairman, Randstad Group.

Mr. Noteboom felt that India would be a bigger bet for major recruitment solution companies across the globe. Today, the Eastern part of the world was the focus of the economy. With the advent of IT, Indian job seekers were bound to get employment across the world.

Randstad Group's latest survey indicated that job projections from industries such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare and life sciences were bound to grow and it had also predicated that recruitment was happening in the hospitality sector too. Since the U.S. was still the major contributor of jobs for Indian companies, outsourcing and the jobs related to that would grow in the future, he added.

In an interaction with The Hindu group of publications on Tuesday, Mr. Noteboom said though the U.S. job market saw a dip due to the recent economic slowdown, the Indian or Chinese markets did not see any dip. The recent hiring trend in the U.S. market had made it clear that the U.S. market would not see a second dip in the near future, as the blue collar jobs were on the rise, he added.

He said by 2050, nearly 32 million jobs would be created across the globe. But this would not be sufficient to meet the world economic growth. He also pointed out that more jobs would be created in countries with growing young population such as India and China, compared to a couple of Western countries. E. Balaji, Director and President, Mafoi Randstad, said Internet would take a lead role in the recruitment solution. It would pave way for social networking mode of recruitment and similarly web-based application would become a part of the recruitment solution. Randstad specialises in solutions in the field of flexible work and human resources (HR) services.
